Yesaya 2:3

2:3 many peoples will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain,

to the temple of the God of Jacob,

so ¹  he can teach us his requirements, ² 

and ³  we can follow his standards.” ⁴ 

For Zion will be the center for moral instruction; ⁵ 

the Lord will issue edicts from Jerusalem. ⁶ 

Yesaya 5:24

5:24 Therefore, as flaming fire ⁷  devours straw,

and dry grass disintegrates in the flames,

so their root will rot,

and their flower will blow away like dust. ⁸ 

For they have rejected the law of the Lord who commands armies,

they have spurned the commands ⁹  of the Holy One of Israel. ¹⁰ 

Yesaya 38:1

The Lord Hears Hezekiah’s Prayer

38:1 In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. ¹¹  The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Give instructions to your household, for you are about to die; you will not get well.’”

Yesaya 42:5

42:5 This is what the true God, ¹²  the Lord, says –

the one who created the sky and stretched it out,

the one who fashioned the earth and everything that lives on it, ¹³ 

the one who gives breath to the people on it,

and life to those who live on it: ¹⁴ 

Yesaya 45:1

45:1 This is what the Lord says to his chosen ¹⁵  one,

to Cyrus, whose right hand I hold ¹⁶ 

in order to subdue nations before him,

and disarm kings, ¹⁷ 

to open doors before him,

so gates remain unclosed:

45:13 It is me – I stir him up and commission him; ¹⁸ 

I will make all his ways level.

He will rebuild my city;

he will send my exiled people home,

but not for a price or a bribe,”

Yesaya 49:5

49:5 So now the Lord says,

the one who formed me from birth ¹⁹  to be his servant –

he did this ²⁰  to restore Jacob to himself,

so that Israel might be gathered to him;

and I will be honored ²¹  in the Lord’s sight,

for my God is my source of strength ²²  –

Yesaya 51:22

51:22 This is what your sovereign master, ²³  the Lord your God, says:

“Look, I have removed from your hand

the cup of intoxicating wine, ²⁴ 

the goblet full of my anger. ²⁵ 

You will no longer have to drink it.

Yesaya 54:1

Zion Will Be Secure

54:1 “Shout for joy, O barren one who has not given birth!

Give a joyful shout and cry out, you who have not been in labor!

For the children of the desolate one are more numerous

than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord.

Yesaya 65:7

65:7 for your sins and your ancestors’ sins,” ²⁶  says the Lord.

“Because they burned incense on the mountains

and offended ²⁷  me on the hills,

I will punish them in full measure.” ²⁸ 

Yesaya 65:25

65:25 A wolf and a lamb will graze together; ²⁹ 

a lion, like an ox, will eat straw, ³⁰ 

and a snake’s food will be dirt. ³¹ 

They will no longer injure or destroy

on my entire royal mountain,” ³²  says the Lord.

Yesaya 66:5

66:5 Hear the word of the Lord,

you who respect what he has to say! ³³ 

Your countrymen, ³⁴  who hate you

and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of my name,

say, “May the Lord be glorified,

then we will witness your joy.” ³⁵ 

But they will be put to shame.

However, it is unlikely that such an allusion exists. Even if there is an echo of Gen 3:14, the primary allusion is to 11:8, where snakes are pictured as no longer dangerous. They will no longer attack other living creatures, but will be content to crawl along the ground. (The statement “you will eat dirt” in Gen 3:14 means “you will crawl on the ground.” In the same way the statement “dirt will be its food” in Isa 65:25 means “it will crawl on the ground.”)
